"THE RAPID ROMAN" "Gene's Machine" driven by the "The Rapid Roman", Richie Evans to his 2nd Modified championship in 1978. Richie Evans was the only only driver to have won nine NASCAR national Modified titles, including an incredible eight in a row (1978-1985). This car was sought after by Mickey Miller, in the fall of 1988. This car was purchased from Art Cramer of New Egypt, NJ. This car was last raced competitively at the 1988 Turkey Derby at Wall Stadium. This car underwent an extensive rehabilitation from the chassis up. A number of people pitched in to restore this original documented car back to the 1978 era of The Rapid Roman's 2nd title hunt. Mickey has campaigned this car from Thunder Road in Barre Vermont, To New Smyrna Beach, Florida. This car was also on display at Oswego Speedway, Oswego, New York, Riverhead Raceway, New York and New Smyrna Speedway, Florida for the Richie Evans Memorial Races for several years. "Big Orange" is here on display at Riverhead Raceway on Long Island, at the Richie Evans Memorial Race. Bob O'Rouque and Richie were good friends. Bob always appreciated having Big Orange on hand for the race.
